In 2019 things have changed, and kid’s themselves have changed as well. We live in a time where things are harder for kid’s more than they have ever been. With social media influence, bullying and the breakdown of discipline in many cases, some parents are pushing their children into other outlets. Today, one of the outlets that we see on the rise is the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
With Brazilian Jiu Jitsu children are finding what they need under one roof. Self defense, discipline, the feeling of belonging to a team, friendship, and most importantly, the love from someone outside of the household with the belief that they could win. Here at Diego Bispo Academy the kids are pushed to not only be better athletes but better people as well. They are taught that they are one single team, one unit, and to support each other win or lose.
Professor Bispo and Professor Massei have created one of the most successful kids programs on the east coast by utilizing fun games, and classes for the younger kids ranging from the ages of 3-4 years old, to hardcore competition training for older children who compete almost every month. For me personally, my son has wanted to be involved in Jiu Jitsu since he was 3 years old, and to see him put his uniform and get on the mats is especially special for me because I know how much Jiu Jitsu has helped me in my life.
It’s important to teach your child early a healthy lifestyle and it is also important to teach your child how to defend himself if the situation should arise. I found Jiu Jitsu late in life and I wish I had started when I was younger, because it changed me completely. So as parents we need to ask ourselves, what is stopping us from giving our children that small change that they need to be better?
